Salman hints at Pakistan squad selection for the T20 World Cup
That recent tri-series run of results has Salman convinced that his side is steadily gaining confidence under his leadership, and it nudges him to imagine Pakistan lifting their second T20 World Cup title—first since 2009.
“We’ve been playing together with this group for six months, and the outcomes are starting to reflect that,” Salman remarked.
“I aspire to lift the 2026 T20 World Cup and then the 2027 ODI World Cup. Winning both events would be a dream come true; achieving that would make me incredibly happy.
“At present, Pakistan will compete in the T20 World Cup with me as captain. Our senior players recognize how to adapt to Sri Lankan pitches, and the Sri Lanka series will serve as a valuable platform for the newcomers before the World Cup.
“The team is headed in the right direction, yet there remains room for growth. The goal is to elevate Pakistan to a level where it becomes everyone’s hopeful expectation.”
